If you asked me to describe the perfect summer wedding, I’d just show you Meaghan and Austin’s day at Stonewall Estate in Upstate New York. Lush green hills as far as the eye can see, an outdoor ceremony under open sky, a couple radiating pure joy – and a very good dog stealing hearts in nearly every single shot.
This one was special from the very first frame.

There’s a reason couples travel to Upstate New York to get married. The landscape up there operates on a different level – rolling hills, dense forest, wildflower meadows, and that particular quality of summer light that feels softer and more golden than anywhere else. Stonewall Estate wedding venue channels all of that natural beauty into one stunning property, and on a clear summer day, it is genuinely breathtaking.
As a wedding videographer in upstate NY, arriving at a venue like this with a drone in your bag feels like being handed a gift. Every altitude reveals a new perspective – the sprawling estate nestled into the hillside, the tree canopy stretching across the horizon, the tented reception area glowing warm against the green. I logged more drone time at this wedding than almost any other, and every single shot was worth it.
Drove Video Views That Take Your Breath Away
One of the things that makes Stonewall Estate wedding venue so exceptional on camera is how well it reads from above. The property is vast and beautifully landscaped, with natural elements that blend seamlessly into the surrounding Upstate New York countryside. Flying the drone over the ceremony site – with guests seated in the open air, surrounded by trees and rolling green – gave us some of the most cinematic establishing shots I’ve captured all season.
Summer drone footage here has a richness to it that’s hard to describe and impossible to fake. The deep emerald greens, the warmth of the midday sun, the way the estate sits so naturally in the landscape – it all comes together into footage that feels less like a wedding video and more like a love letter to the place itself.
An Outdoor Wedding Ceremony Built for Film
Meaghan and Austin chose to hold their ceremony entirely outdoors, and it was the right call. Surrounded by the natural beauty of the estate, with nothing overhead but blue sky and the rustle of summer trees, the ceremony had an intimacy and openness that a ballroom simply can’t replicate. Every glance, every tear, every laugh landed with full emotional weight because there was nothing between the moment and the camera – just light, air, and feeling.
And then there was the dog.
The Real Star of the Wedding Day
Let’s be honest – Meaghan and Austin’s dog was an absolute scene-stealer. From the getting-ready moments to the portraits to the ceremony itself, their pup was right there in the middle of it all, completely unbothered and completely adorable. Some of my favorite frames from this entire wedding involve that dog – sitting proudly during the ceremony, photobombing couple portraits, soaking up the attention from guests during cocktail hour.
There’s something about a couple who includes their dog in their wedding that tells you everything you need to know about them. These two are the real deal.
